Objective: Create an argument by analyzing an artifact.
The Situation:
As a new student at the University of Denver you are participating in a lot of new traditions and experiences. While this is important and nonetheless a very fun thing to be a part of, it is important to remember your roots and connect with others by learning about their background and their history.
Your Task:
In an effort to get to know you better we want you to describe and analyze a tradition from your hometown or from your high school. Not only will this give you a chance to reflect, but it will also help others to see where you come from.
Before You Begin:
Make a list of possible traditions that you would like to analyze. One you have four or five possibilities, write down all of the information that you can think of about each event. Make sure to describe in detail what the event entails.
Next Step:
Now select which tradition or experience that you are most interested in and will be able to analyze successfully.
Record all the purpose of this event, who the event is aimed at (the audience) and how it impacts the community.
After:
You will be given one week to write a fictional story about this event, which includes all of the above information creatively woven into it. The story must be typed and include at least one illustration.
